Medici Chapels – This big complex is the place where the Medici and their family members are buried, it is attached to the back of St. Lorenzo Church and it includes the underground quarters and various other rooms of the church. Only for those who want to get to know the Medici family and discover all their secrets.
Bargello Museum – This is a medieval palace which looks like a fortress and has a powerful crenellated tower above the severe facade. It was built in 1255 as the political headquarters, in 1574 the Bargello (or Captain of Justice) came to live in here and the palace became a jail. Today it’s the seat of the National Museum which contains Renaissance sculptures by Michelangelo, Donatello and others and masterpieces from various periods.
Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria – This is one of the most renowned and photographed squares and historical palaces in the world: Piazza della Signoria is an “open-air museum” with very important sculptural masterpieces by Giambologna, Cellini, Ammannati and others. Palazzo Vecchio has been the political headquarters and one of the symbols of the city for centuries. The palace was founded in 1299 on a project by Arnolfo Di Cambio and it was embellished during the Medici domination with frescoes by Ghirlandaio, Bronzino and Vasari and sculptures by Michelangelo and Donatello.
Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens –

Admire the most imposing of the city palaces and its luxuriant halls. Palazzo Pitti dates back to 1450s on a design by Brunelleschi and it was enlarged in the 16th century for the Medici family. Today it comprises several museums (the Museum of Silverware – the Royal Quarters – the Palatine Gallery – the Gallery of Modern Art) and the Boboli Gardens, the largest monumental green space in Florence.
Museo dell’Opera del Duomo (Cathedral Museum) – This is the very place where Michelangelo sculpted his famous David and it houses Ghiberti’s original “Gate of Paradise”, Michelangelo’s “Pieta Bandini” and works by Donatello, Della Robbia and Pisano among others.
